Nasal Polyps Evaluation & Management Treatment

Struggling with chronic nasal blockage, facial pressure, and loss of smell? Compassionate evaluation and medical management in Thiruvananthapuram.

Understanding The Condition

Overview & Clinical Context

Nasal polyps are soft, non-cancerous (benign) teardrop-shaped growths that develop in the lining of your nasal passages or sinuses. They often hang down like peeled grapes from the sinus openings into the nasal cavity, arising from chronic, persistent inflammation.

Small nasal polyps may cause no noticeable symptoms. However, as they expand or form clusters, they obstruct the nasal airway and prevent normal sinus drainage, causing patients to feel as though their nose is permanently stuffed with cotton, accompanied by marked loss of smell (anosmia).

At Dr. Marissa's ENT Clinic in Pongumoodu, Thiruvananthapuram, we examine the nasal airway thoroughly to assess the extent of polypoid tissue and rule out other causes. Many early or moderate polyps respond well to targeted medical therapies, including nasal steroid sprays and saline irrigations.
